Knit Purse

Size: Approx 9 1/2" x 12"

Materials

LION BRAND® Wool-Ease Thick & Quick, Item #640 (6 oz. balls)

  • 1 ball #152 Pewter or #149 Charcoal
  • One pair knitting needles size 15 (10mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
  • One 1" button
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge: 2 stitches and 3 rows = 1" in stockinette stitch
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

Bag

Cast on 26 sts. Work in garter stitch (knit every row) for 2 rows. Work in stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) until piece measures 18" from beginning, ending with a purl row. Next row (make buttonhole) Knit 12, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 12. Knit 2 rows. Bind off all stitches.

Finishing

Fold piece in half and sew side seams.

Strap

Cast on 80 stitches. Next row Bind off all stitches. Attach strap to side seams at top of purse. Weave in loose ends and sew on button.
